Why choose a griddle that goes over the fire pit and not in the fire pit?

We opted for cooking plates that go over the fire pit for a few simple reasons. One of these reasons is that when the cooking plate is in the pit, there is a gap between the pit and the cooking plate where hands and arms always come into contact. This has the disadvantage that smoke can escape through here, but also heat, which can easily burn your arms or hands, or smoke can get into your eyes this way, which is not very pleasant.
