Flambéed strawberries on the plancha

🍓 Warm strawberries with Cointreau, black pepper & vanilla ice cream

A surprising and simple dessert from the griddle BBQ, ready in just 2 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Cointreau, cognac, whiskey or rum
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Fresh mint

Preparation

  1. Prepare everything in advance
This recipe is super fast. Have the strawberries, liquor, black pepper, vanilla ice cream, plates, and mint all ready before you start.
  2. Strawberries on the griddle
Preheat the griddle BBQ thoroughly. Place the strawberries directly on the hot plate and briefly sear them. If necessary, gently turn them over so they lightly caramelize all around.
  3. Flambé
Add a small splash of Cointreau, cognac, whiskey, or rum. Cointreau is particularly delicious due to its sweet, fresh touch. Briefly flambé the strawberries.
  4. Black pepper
Remove the strawberries almost immediately from the griddle and finish with a little freshly ground black pepper. The pepper provides a surprising contrast to the sweet strawberries and ice cream.
  5. Serve
Scoop a ball of vanilla ice cream onto a plate and place the warm strawberries next to it. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf.

🔥 The golden rule: maximum 2 minutes

Work quickly! Prepare everything in advance and make sure you can serve immediately. The strawberries only need a short time on the griddle.

Don't cook them for too long: as soon as the strawberries become too soft, they turn into a kind of jam. You want warm, juicy strawberries that retain their shape.

Tip: This recipe is ideal to make as the last dish on your griddle BBQ. The combination of warm strawberries, vanilla ice cream, a hint of Cointreau, and black pepper creates a simple yet impressive BBQ dessert.
